Qu’est-ce que Curlie ?
Je vais être bref parce que je l’ai déjà expliqué dans ce blog et ça n’a pas changé. Référez-vous à mon vieux billet sur le sujet. Curlie.org est un annuaire web libre et collaboratif. L’objectif est de référencer les sites internet les plus utiles, sur tous les sujets, dans toutes les langues. C’est un système de classification qui est une alternative au système de moteur de recherche basé sur les mots-clés. Libre parce que tout le monde peut utiliser le contenu pour créer son propre annuaire (sous conditions de citer Curlie bien entendu). Collaboratif dans le sens où ce sont des internautes volontaires et bénévoles qui alimentent cet annuaire. C’est le plus ancien et le plus grand à ce jour.
A quoi sert Curlie ?
Initialement, c’était pour pallier la relative inefficacité des moteurs de recherche, à l’attention des internautes. Puis Google himself a utilisé l’annuaire pour repérer les sites les plus pertinents pour ses résultats de recherche, c’était donc à l’époque plutôt utile aux développeurs web et référenceurs. Mais il y a un autre « produit » de Curlie, c’est sa structure. Au fil des années, des décennies, la classification s’est étoffée et affinée. Et ça, ça intéresse certaines personnes, notamment les chercheurs en ontologie, ceux qui s’intéressent aux systèmes d’organisation et de classification.
Dans ce billet, je vous propose tout simplement une liste des publications scientifiques qui ont utilisé et/ou discuté de Curlie (l’entité créée en 2017, pas DMOZ ou ODP, l’entité précédente). Soit comme objet d’étude, soit comme outil ou soit, tout simplement, comme source d’information. De la plus récente à la plus ancienne pour l’instant.
J’ai donc trouvé près de 130 références (articles scientifiques, thèses, livres ou chapitres, conférences et quelques rapports) dont 90 au moins qui utilisent ou ont Curlie pour sujet, les autres utilisent l’annuaire comme référence bibliographique. Je pense qu’il y a du tri à faire (il doit y avoir des faux positifs), de la classification aussi (pour mieux savoir qui fait quoi avec Curlie, dans quel but, etc.). Je ferai ça plus tard. En tout cas, je suis très étonné de voir autant de travaux qui utilisent le site actuel. DMOZ/ODP était connu et avait pignon sur rue mais ça n’est plus le cas pour Curlie. Je trouve ça très gratifiant pour l’éditeur Curlie que je suis.
